| Sweet 16 offers free bowling for kids Posted: 25 May 2010 10:01 AM PDT Sweet 16 Lanes in Le Mars is partnering with the Kids Bowl Free Program to offer free bowling games this summer to children 15 and younger. Through the Kids Bowl Free Program, each child can bowl two free games every day in May, June and August at Sweet 16 Lanes, according to owner Gary Brady. They just have to pay for shoe rental. "It introduces people to bowling and gives kids something to do during the summer," Brady said. "It's a fantastic national program." For their children to participate, parents can visit www.KidsBowlFree.com and fill out a short information form. "Then every week, they'll get an email that they can print off, and that will give them free games here at Sweet 16," Brady said. Already 452 local youth have signed up, he said. "We have kids coming in every day," he added. Hundreds of bowling centers are participating in the Kids Bowl Free Program but Sweet 16 Lanes is the only one in the area, Brady said. "Even though the program started May 10, it's not too late to sign up kids. They can sign up all summer," Brady said. He said he likes the program because it gets youth back into bowling. Free bowling is not offered at Sweet 16 Lanes in July because the bowling alley is closed that month for annual work.
