Marvel Super Hero Squad Online kids-themed MMO details revealed

Posted: 13 May 2010 12:07 PM PDT

Last year, Gazillion Entertainment announced it had received the rights to make MMO games based on the Marvel Universe super hero characters. While we may have to wait a while for details of their AAA Marvel Universe MMO today they have given out more info on another Marvel Comics-related MMO title, Marvel Super Hero Squad Online.

Based on the kids-themed comic book and animated TV series, this game is being developed by The Amazing Society and will let players actually play characters like Spider-Man, The Hulk, Wolverine and others. There's no word yet on when the game will launch but the first trailer is expected to be released later this week.

Former Michigan quarterback Brian Griese continues to raise money for kids

Posted: 14 May 2010 12:27 AM PDT

Last year was the first football season in years that Brian Griese got a chance to heal, having retired after 11 NFL seasons.

But he has been working to heal other people for years and will continue to do so through his charitable work.

That's what drives him into this weekend's Champions for Children's Hearts events -- which he co-sponsors with 1997 Michigan football championship teammates Steve Hutchinson and Charles Woodson -- to raise money for U-M's Mott Children's Hospital.

Griese, who had his second child just before last year's event, said he can understand the effect these children in the hospital can have on anyone.

"Having kids or not having kids, it's not hard to put yourself in the position on having someone who needs help," said Griese.

The event has expanded this year to include a Friday WTKA radio-a-thon for the former players to raise money, an group visit to the hospital to see children, a Saturday night gala dinner that will be emceed by ESPN's Mike Tirico and the entire weekend chronicled by the Big Ten Network. The Sunday golf event at the U-M golf course, which started it all, still remains one of the primary fund-raisers.

As for Griese, his life still revolves around the football season, but now it's as a college football analyst for ESPN, a job he started last year.

As for Michigan games, he hasn't done any yet but said ESPN is open to the idea.

Though the recent years have frustrated him, like most fans. "It's tough to watch," said Griese, the 1998 Rose Bowl MVP. "I'd be sick if it wasn't tough to watch. I understand the situation with the transition and the other things that have gone on, but at some point it has to change. I hope this year it does."
