SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Summer means garage sales and flea markets. But instead of shopping with their parents, children in Springfield are selling their own stuff.
About 120 kids sold or traded their old books, Halloween costumes, games, clothes, and more.
It's the 5th Annual Kids' Flea Market, a way for the Springfield Library to encourage kids to stop by the library for their summer reading. Some kids are happy to make a little summer money, too.
"Really, I have nothing better to do with it, but I just wanted to make some money on the side this summer," said Misha Offeibucher.
"They can do their own bartering, own bargaining, set their own prices, make their own change. This is a popular event. It's easy for kids to participate in," said Springfield Library Manager Barbara Thompson.
Not every kid was looking to make the big bucks. This one was practically giving his stuff away, just 10 cents a piece. Five Filters featured article: Headshot - Propaganda, State Religion and the Attack On the Gaza Peace Flotilla. Available tools: PDF Newspaper, Full Text RSS, Term Extraction. |
